Israel and Iran: Are We about to Witness the Fulfillment of Jeremiah 49??
Something large is happening. It is very possible that Israel is about to wipe out Iran’s nuclear sites. If you recall, back in June 7, 1981 Operation Opera, also known as Operation Babylon, was a surprise airstrike conducted by the Israeli Air Force, which destroyed an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor located 11 miles southeast of Baghdad, Iraq. This was while Saddam Hussein was in office, and the purpose of this was obviously to halt the development of nuclear weapons.
In hindsight, had this not happened, the Persian Gulf Crisis could have been a nuclear crisis.
As of today, NINE countries currently possess nuclear weapons:
- The United States
- Russia
- China
- France
- The United Kingdom (England)
- Pakistan
- India
- Israel
- North Korea
Two of these countries, India & Pakistan were on the brink of a possible war less then a month ago following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a town in India-administered Kashmir. Missiles were launched and both countries were involved in drone warfare but tensions did not escalate to the point of a Nuclear exchange as the international community was fully alert
Now if Israel indeed obliterates Iran’s Nuclear sites, this could lead to Iran retaliating by launching hundreds of ballistic missiles in return.
According to renown Bible Prophecy teacher Amir Tsarfati, America is evacuating its embassy in Baghdad and ALL US bases across the Middle East are on High Alert.
Furthermore, he also stated that the US Secretary of Defense has confirmed Iran’s progress in its nuclear weapon program. Amir went on to state the Iran was now literally days away from producing nuclear weaponry. Israel is also currently in HIGH ALERT and preparing to strike within days and the current level of threats from Iran is unprecedented.
When you look at this through the lens of Scripture remember the following:
Ephesians 6:12 – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places
So, this principality over Iran is according to the Bible referred to as the Prince of Persia. It is first mentioned here in the 10th Chapter of the Book of Daniel:
Daniel 10:1-21-– In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
So you have this “prince” pf Persia followed by a “prince ” of Grecia involved in a spiritual warfare against the angelic hosts Gabriel and Michael. Folks, this isn’t LORD OF THE RINGS fairy tale fantasy, this is truth.
This “prince of Persia” is not a human. You’re not dealing with some crown-wearing nobleman sipping tea in Tehran. This is a devil, a territorial principality, operating behind the Persian Empire—a fallen angel of high rank that influences kings, governments, and national affairs.
This Prince of Persia is a satanic overlord assigned to the geopolitical realm of Persia (modern-day Iran).
For 21 days, he resisted the angel Gabriel — the very one who stands in the presence of God — showing you the level of authority and spiritual resistance going on in the invisible world.
Michael, the archangel and protector of Israel (Daniel 12:1), had to come in and deal with these principalities to get Gabriel through enemy lines. That’s angelic warfare (Spiritual Warfare) in high places—above your pay grade unless you’re rightly dividing and spiritually armed.
If your read Daniel 11:21-45 you read how the Anti-Christ sets up his kingdom in Israel and events that transpire in the middle of the Tribulation period, also referred to as the Time of Jacob’s Trouble and this continues in the next chapter :
Daniel 12:1-4– And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Notice the sayings of the book were sealed until the the of the end.
Daniel 12:9-10– 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Again notice the words of Scripture were closed up and sealed until the time of the end. This reminds me of a very interesting quote from Sir Isaac Newton made way back in the 16th-17th Century:
“In the end time God will raise up men who will devote their efforts to study of the prophetic scriptures and insist upon their literal interpretation the midst of much clamor and opposition.”
Let’s examine this through the Word of God:

Jeremiah 49:34-39– The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,35 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the Lord; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the Lord.
Though God Himself declares this judgment, Scripture often shows God using human agents—especially Israel—to carry out divine justice:
Ezek. 25:14— 14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord God.
In the last days, Israel is often portrayed as supernaturally empowered to defeat surrounding nations.
Question: Could Israel be the tool God uses to break Elam’s power? God breaks the bow—but often through Israel.
Jeremiah 51:19-21:19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.20 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
Now, let’s look at the location of Elam. Elam is located in the modern-day country of Iran. Furthermore, Elam’s ancient territory overlaps with modern southwestern Iran, including:
•Bushehr Nuclear Plant – Directly in ancient Elam.
• Strategic military and energy centers.
Many prophecy scholars (e.g. Mark Hitchcock, Bill Salus) propose that Israel may strike these nuclear facilities, fulfilling Jeremiah 49:35—breaking Iran’s military power and causing global dispersion.
Even now, Iran’s aggression (via Hezbollah, proxies, and threats of annihilation) makes this scenario prophetically plausible.
1. Jeremiah 49 and Elam’s Military Defeat
Jeremiah 49:34–39 outlines a multi-phase judgment:
1. The bow is broken – Military defeat.
2. Elam is scattered – National destabilization.
3.Terror follows them – Ongoing unrest and exile.
4. A throne is set in Elam – Possibly foreign occupation? The scattering and throne-setting implies a major upheaval.
5. Restoration comes in the last days – God’s Future mercy.
This prophecy hasn’t been completely fulfilled in history. Many see a future fulfillment, potentially involving Israel and modern Iran (Elam).
Keep in mind that this event may precede the Ezekiel 38–39 war, weakening Iran . because in Ezekiel 38-39, Iran has several allies that come together to attack Israel. Also, Psalm 83 proponents suggest Jeremiah 49 could be part of a broader pre-tribulational conflict where Israel defeats its surrounding enemies:
Psalm 83: Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.
As we move into the Summer 2025 A.D., it is evident that this year promises to be a year of accelerated prophetic fulfillment. The Church Age is quickly coming to a close and God’s attention is moving toward Israel. Now is the time to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the message of the Kingdom to all that need to hear it before the door to the ark of safety closes and the Church Age comes to an end.
