Understanding the End Times

EndTimes ClockThe word eschatology is derived from the Greek word “eschata,” which means “the last.” In Christianity, this term is used to include the doctrine of “last things.” This would also include many teachings by different church groups concerning the end of time, the end of the world as it is now, and the end of the church age.

When a student of the Bible decides to take a hermeneutical approach towards studying the Holy writ, there are many topics to research: Theology, Angelogy, Demonology, the Gospels, the Pauline Epistles, Faith, Healing, Prosperity, etc. Each topic is vital and necessary for one to develop a deeper understanding of the Bible. (especially if you have a calling on your life to teach and/or preach the Word of God.) (II Timothy 2:15).

As it is mentioned in the forty sixth chapter of the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament, God declared the end from the beginning. In His eyes, there is no new thing under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9). For example, if you have ever attended a parade in the city, you notice many different types of floats slowly coming and going before you. However, you are not aware of the next float that may be turning the corner as it begins to approach you. Now if you were in a helicopter, you would be able to see the other floats on the adjacent block lined up and preparing to make a left turn onto the main street. Likewise, God not only sees the floats that are yet to make their way onto the main street, but He also knows what they are and lined them up Himself. Even the prophetic scriptures are the written record of what God (through the prophets), declared to mankind would happen even to the end of the earth’s history. (I Peter 1:10-12)

Open Bible showing The RevelationIt is safe to say that God is not bound by time, time itself came out of God. You see, there was an eternal past, prior to the creation of the earth, the creation of Adam and Eve, the fall of mankind, etc. Likewise, there will be an eternal future, which shall be preceded by the end of the Dispensation of Grace or the Church age, the Rapture of the Body of Christ, the Tribulation and Great Tribulation period, the second Coming of Jesus Christ, and the One Thousand Year Millennial Reign. Not to mention the War of Gog and Magog, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, the Great White Throne Judgment, satan being loosed from the Bottomless Pit after one thousand years for one final confrontation with Jesus Christ, and so forth.

This is where the study of Eschatology becomes important. You see, we live in a day and age where many of the people (both secular and perhaps saved) are seeking to know about the future. They are looking for answers, howbeit in the wrong places. For example, the Horoscopes are one of the most frequently visited sites on the Internet. By the way, the Horoscopes are a twisted form of the constellations of Heaven that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob originally had created as a sign for the twelve tribes of Israel. (Psalm 19:1). Many people are calling 1-800 Psychic Hotline numbers and scores of people are seeing mediums and palm readers and tarot card readers.

Man has a longing to delve into the supernatural because we were originally made to operate in the supernatural.

Now from a ministerial perspective, we must be as the “…children of Isaachar, (I Chronicles 16:32) which were men that had an understanding of the times, to know what Israel ( or in this case, the church) ought to do. If you discern where we are in history, Jesus talked about the signs of the end times in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13. Might I suggest we are living in the times of the signs

From an eschatological perspective, the Bible clearly foretold many interesting wall of Jerusalemdevelopments that are unfolding in our times. God takes no pleasure in surprise but gets glory out of describing future events and then bringing them to pass. (Amos 3:7) The study of Eschatology enables one to understand what is happening today in the world, in the church, and let me emphatically add the Middle East & the nation of Israel.

The purpose of this website is to enable the reader to understand much of what is unfolding on this earth through the lens of the Biblical Scriptures.
