Just this weekend prophetically significant developments in the Middle East have emerged pertaining to a major escalation in Syria and it involves Israel AND Iran!
It is being reported that Iran sent one of its drones into Israeli airspace from Syria. This drone ultimately found its way intruding into Israeli airspace. As it entered Israeli airspace an IAF Apache chopper intercepted and destroyed the Iranian drone.
However, the F-16 was shot down by Syrian air defenses and crashed in Northern Israel, east of Haifa. Both pilots ejected, but were injured, This was the first time an Israeli manned aircrafy has been shot down in the Syrian confluct.
As a result, Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu called for an emergancy session of his defense chiefs in Tel Aviv. Israel then responded with the largest airstrikes in Syria since 1982. Numerous air defenses and military facilities have been targeted( at least 12 other Iranian and Syrian targets according to the IAF Air Order Of Battle (AOOB). Several of these facilities were either in or near the vicinity of Damascus. The heavy fire between Syria and Israel continued to escalate, with Israel promising to exact a heavy price from Syria and Iran. It is very likely that Isaiah 17 could literally come to pass and ultimately the prophetic fulfillment of Ezekiel 38-39is not that far behind.
Isaiah 17: 1-4 & 14–The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. 3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. 14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
The entire Chapter of Jeremiah 49deserves tbe examined but note verses 23 -27:
Jeremiah 49: 23-27—Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail. 25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy! 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
Just yesterday, it was also being reported that Israel is sending ground troops and other reinforcements to the Golan front. If you look at the map bove, this is the Golan Height and one of teh most strategic miltary defense points in Israel not far from the Syrian border.
Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, reportedly stated that war with Israel was likely to erupt within the next few days and this was just last week:
Hezbollah sees the downing of the F-16 as a major steppingstone to ultimately defeating Israel. To make matters more complicated, the air defense network used against the Israeli Air Force Sufa’s is controlled through Russian forces Air Defense Head Quarters at Hmeimim Air Base. This means Russia may have took part in the ambush.
Russia has asked Israel to cool off and it is now being reported the Prime Minister Benjmin Netanyahu may resign this week due to allegations of corruption. Whether this really happens remains to be seen. It must be noted, the Benjamin Netanyahu is seen as a major thorn in the development of a Two-State solution and that his removal could open the door to a more liberal-minded Zionist Leader willing to agree to a Two-state deal.
These developments ocurring just months removed from the 7oth anniversary of Israel becoming a nation (May 14, 1948) is no coincidence at all. The pieces of this prophetic puzzle are rapidly coming together and the 70th Week of Danel is fast approaching…….
If you recall, back in July of 2017 a watershed moment in Bble prophecy came to pass. The Jordanian Waqf effectively lost control of the Temple Mount for the first time since 1967. Since then, it has been under the watch of the Israeli police. You may want refer to this previous post for further review:
Since last July, Jewish worshipers have begun showing increasing determination to pray at the Temple Mount. Just a few days ago 42 Jews have openly prayed and worshiped on the Temple Mount. See video below:
Interestingly enough, these men were not attacked at all. There was no rioting that ensued. This was a a valiant act.But what caught my attention is the number of Jews that attempted this feat, the number 42. You see, the number Forty-two is a number with a direct connection to the coming Antichrist. His evil efforts will last 42 months in the end time, and thus forty-two is firmly associated with him.
Revelation 11:1-2—And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
In Revelation Chapter 13 you also have the emergenece of two key figures that arise to power: the Anti-Christ and the false prophet:
Revelation13:1-5—And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
Notice the number 42 again. There is speculation a final “two-state solution” would almost have to include some sort of division of the Temple Mount, which would finally allow Israel at least some area to build a temple.
After the U.S. now Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, have all come on board supporting an undivided Jerusalem. There also have been talks that it seems that Egypt ‘unofficially’ recognises this as well, and has been making noise about the Palestinians needing to be content with Ramallah as its own capital. Now if Egypt and Palestine cave and then Ramallah becomes the P.A. capital, that would give Israel a straight path to building the temple. But what is more likely to happen is possibly a war in the Middle East that will be followed the emergence of the Anti-Christ.
Israel was officially regathered on May 14, 1948. This year, on May 14, 2018, they will have been back in their own land for exactly 70 years.
The Church will not be here for the time of Jacob’s trouble, Israel will be in the spotlight. The Church will be removed at the Rapture before all that. But how fitting would it be for God to have a major move of prophecy on the 70th anniversary of the miracle of the fulfillment of the regathering of the Jews? Israel being back in the land was fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
2018 indeed is shaping u to what will very likely be a prophetically significant year.
Unless you are a native of the Hawaiian Islands you may not be privy to what unfolded this weekend. Apparently, residents and visitors vactaioning in Hawaii received a very troubling message. Text alerts were sent indicating the following: “Ballistic missile threat inbound. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill.”
According to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, this was an error as the notification was sent by mistake and that the employee on staff had pushed the wrong button. Needless to say, what ensued after this message was erroneously sent was panic, and pandemonium. It was reported that people i the streets were running and screaming and people were trying to seek shelter both for theimselves as well as their children. For a few moments, I cannot fathom what went through the minds of many people. Ultimately it was confirmed that as a false alarm.
As you know, over the last few months, there has been some saber rattling between the leader of North Korea and our current president regarding Nuclear Arms. The cluster of Pacific islands that make up Hawaii are located west of mainland US and lies some 4,661 miles away from North Korea. As Kim Jong-un has been building up his nuclear arsenal, some of the missiles have a range of up to 6,000 miles.
Vern Miyagi, of the Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency, predicted that Hawaii’s residents would theoretically only have 15 minutes to seek shelter. He said: “Pacific Command would take about fives minutes to characterise a launch, where the missile is going, which means the population would have about 15 minutes to take shelter.”It’s not much time at all. But it is enough time to give yourself a chance to survive.”
So again, you can imagine the dread and fear that gripped many in Hawaii for those few waning moments. Welcome to 2018!!! If you have been visiting this site and/or if you are a student of Bible prophecy, it is fairly evident that we are living in the signs of the times, signs that Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:
Matthew 24 1-44— And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.25 Behold, I have told you before.26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Again, although I do not live in Hawaii, I thank God this was a false alarm, However, if it were the real thing, how could one prepare? Although some countries do have underground bunker systems in place to cope with such a thing. sales for underground bumkers have been booming here in the U.S.. For what it’s worth, it does bring an interesting scripture to light:
Revelation 6:12-15— 12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
I for one am not fear-mongering nor would I want to incite fear in anyone. However, one must face the reality that if what the Bible says is true, then we must be ready when the real thing happens.
The Bible tells us to take note of these things and be ready. I also have an alternative for those looking to purchase bunkers:
John 14:1-4-—Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
What is of utmost importance is for you to ask yourself where will you spend eternity? The truth of the matter is that we are edging closer and closer to the end of the Church Age and the Tribulation period is moments away.
I Thessalonians 5:11-–But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Going back to Matthew 24 note how the chapter ends:
Matthew 24:43-51—But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
I believe bible Prophecy is indeed “Meat in Due Season” and we must come terms with where we want to spend eternity. When one falls asleep, sometimes it takes a nudge, a push, a pinch in the arm or even a “punch” to wake them up:
Romans 13:11-12—And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
What would you do if you only had moments to live and a “real” missile was incoming? Would you call your family members? Would call on the name of the LORD?
I urge you to accept the free gift of salvation and confess Jesus as LORD and Savior. How do you do that. Simply click on the “Salvation Plan,” which is on the top left section of this website, It will be the best decision you ever made.
Zechariah 12:3—And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
To those whohave been diligently studying their Bible, this past week was a major watershed moment in Bible prophecy as President Trump’s announcement set the stage for several events that I believe will now come to fruition in rapid succession.
This past Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s publicly acknowledged Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. Furthermore, it was also is importantto recognz that the he American embassy in Tel Aviv will be moved to the city as well.President Trump is expected to sign one final six-month waiver allowing time for diplomatic personnel to prepare for the permanent move. It will take time and planning for a new embassy site in Jerusalem to be established and the six-month delay will allow for logistical and security considerations.
It is important to know that with GOD timing is everything:
Isaiah 46:9-10—Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.
It has been said that when looking at God’s prophetic time clock, when you hear of Israel in the news it is God’s prophetic minute hand, but when you hear of Jerusalem in the news it is God’s prophetic second hand.
As we near the latter end of the year 2018 keep in mind that 2018 is Israel’s 70th birthday, and perhaps it was not a coincidence that Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel just with the 70 year anniversary of Isarel looming in the very near future. If you factor in the 6 month planning and preparation timetable, the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem should be ready to open by or near May 14th. Remember that the modern state of Israel was born on May 14th, 1948 and U.S. President Harry Truman formally recognized the new nation on this very date.
Regardless of one’s political viewpoint, our mandate is to always pray and intercede for our leaders:
1 Timothy 2:1-3—I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Whether or not one supports or dislikes the current president of the United States, it must be noted that he is the first US president since President Harry Truman to honor God by recognizing Jerusalem. The United States has already seen a substantial economic improvement and indicators show that the United States could be trending upwards and positioning itself for an economic boom.
Psalm 122:6-8—Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palace. 8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. 9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
Genesis 12:3—And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Historically, blessing Israel has always proven to be a positive for nations that support Israel and negative for those that support the destruction or division of Israel. Since 1948 America, being the first to recognize Israel and its solid support for most of this time, has prospered more than any other nation.
Now let’s take at a look w what happens next…..
The current Pope has already expreesed his diapproval of this announcement and how he believes it may lead to more violence in the Middle East.
The Vatican backs a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with both sides agreeing on the status of Jerusalem as part of the peace process. Palestinians want East Jerusalem as the capital of their future independent state, whereas Israel has declared the whole city to be its “united and eternal” capital.
Reccap Tayyip Erdogan, the current leader of Turkey who also is the head of the O. I. C. (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) which is second in size and power compared to the United nations, responded to Trump’s announcement saying: “Mr. Trump, Jerusalem is a red line for all Muslims” ……“We will follow this situation until the end” Erdogan said adding “if this step is taken, in 5 to 10 days we will gather the O.I.C in Istanbul. And this will not be enough. We will gather the whole of the Muslim world in this summit. We will continue our struggle till the end and we will end our relationship with Israel”.
Ezekiel 38-39 is not far from being fulfilled. There has been much rioting in Israel as Palestianins have called for a day of Rage. What the world needs to understand is that the Day of the LORD is nearing closer and closer and closer….
In conclusion, the U.N. has also announced it’s decision regarding the announcement made by Donald Trump. Nearing the one year anniversary of the passage of Security Council Resolution 2334 which formally called for the dividing of God’s covenant land, the United Nations General Assembly has just passed Resolution 11982, a document entitled “Jerusalem.” The vote was 151 to 6, with 9 abstentions. At the heart of the resolution is this unequivocal rejection of Israel’s sovereignty over its eternal capital, Jerusalem (source):
[The General Assembly] reiterates its determination that any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever, and calls upon Israel to immediately cease all such illegal and unilateral measures.
In December 2016 the United Nations voted to sever Judea and Samaria from Israel. In November 2017 the United Nations has voted to sever Jerusalem from Israel. This overwhelming vote may soon lead to the prophetic fulfillmentfor Joel 3:2:
Joel 3:2–I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
Not only has the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Isarel hastened the political conflict in the Middle East that will culminate in the ushering in of the seven year tribulation period, what also must be mentioned in closing is that as the nations are in an uproar as a reult of last week’s epic annoncement, many in Isarel have a different reaction. Many activists working in Israel to try to restablish the building of a third temple in Israel have stated that President Donald Trump’s epic proclamation on Wednesday acknowledging Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Jewish people was a major step towards establishing the Third Temple and bringing the Messianic era.
“What he did last night was an enormous step in bringing the Temple,” Asaf Fried, official spokesman for the United Temple Movement, an association of organizations working towards making the Third Temple a reality … He added, “This necessarily had to come from a non-Jew in order to bring them into the process, so they will be able to take their part in the Temple … It was clear that Trump was part of that process, guided by Hashem (God)”, Fried declared.
Yet another Rabbi viewed Trump’s announcemnt as part of a continually unfolding predetermined by prophecy. “Yakov Hayman, the chairman of the United Temple Movement, viewePresident Trump’s statement as part of a historical proge=rssion joining a nuber of major shifts in modern history for the Nation of Israel and the jewish people. “1917 was the Balfour declaration establishing Israel for the nations…..2017 was Trump’s declaration. The next and most important step must be taken by the Jews. We need to begin going up to the Temple Mount in massive numbers. Once we do that, the Temple is the next inevitable step.”
This next step is what very well could be the catalyst for a major war in the very near future. Maranatha!
So the Great American eclipse has come…………. and gone.
This phenomenon was visible as a partial eclipse from all 50 states and as a total eclipse from a 70-mile-wide trajectory of 14 states.
While it’s impossible to know exactly how many people saw it is being reported that it was the most observed and most photographed eclipse in history. It is very likely that not hundred, nor thousands, nor tens of thousands, nor hundreds of thousands, but rather, MILLIONS of people across this country from coast to coast, watched this eclipse.
A CNN poll earlier this month indicated that about half of the US population (323.1 million in 2016) planned to watch the eclipse.
Although the majority of eclipses fall over water or unpopulated areas of the planet, the path of totality of this eclipse stayed completelyin the United States. All things considered, no where else in the solar system, or in the universe for that matter, except in the USA from coast to coast yesterday was it possible to see what we American’s could see.
Last time this happened was in 1776, when the nation was birthed. Is this a coincidence?
The sun will set at the commencement of this total solar eclipse at Salem, Oregon (named after Jerusalem circa 1850) at 10:17 AM, or the same time as the sun set in Jerusalem, Israel.
The eclipse path is exactly 70 miles wide. 70 has a sacred meaning in the Bible that has two perfect numbers, 7 that represents perfection and 10 that represents completeness and God’s law. 70 also symbolizes perfect spiritual order and a period of judgment. 70 is also specially connected with Jerusalem.
Speaking of SEVENTY, the number SEVENTY is the number of the restoration of Israel, and is also seen many times in relation to punishment. The meanings of SEVENTY are “completeness” and “judgement”. Again, it is related to the punishment andrestoration of Israel.
2017 is the SEVENTIETH anniversary of UN resolution 181 in 1947, again paving the way for Israel’s statehood in 1948. All this ironically, is ultimately leading up to the SEVEN year Tribulation period otherwise known as the SEVENTIETH Week of Daniel:
Daniel 9:24-27—Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Jesus one time made a clear statement in which He indcated that the signs must occur at some set time or season, in order to be a signal, or warning of coming changes. Look what he said inMatthew 15:3when speaking to the religious and political leaders in Jerusalem–
Matthew 15:3: Oh ye hyporites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot discern the sign of the times. So our LORD was saying that certain times were important as signs. If you point to happening events, without taking into consideration the time when they occur, you can be mistaken.
The 70th Week of Daniel, also referred to as the Time of Jacob’s Trouble that is soon coming will be primarily focused on the final invitation of the Hebrew people. God promised Israel one more opportunity.
Could it be that Blood Moons were a warning to the Jews and Solar Eclipse a warning to the gentiles, especially America? Only time will tell.
So what does the phrase “EYES WIDE SHUT.” mean? It seems to be a contradiction.
Nonetheless, it can be defined as when a person refusesto see something in plain view because of preconceived notions of what this something should look like. This frequently happens to naïve people.
Hebrews 3:12-15—Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
It’s one thing to be naive. It is yet another thing to be ignorant, or worse off willfully ignorant.
2 Peter 3:1-14—This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you, in both of which I stir up your purity of mind by way of remembrance, that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” For of this they are willfully ignorant: that by the Word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water, whereby the world as it then was, being overflowed with water, perished. But the heavens and the earth which now are, by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. The earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy manner of living and godliness, looking for and hastening unto the coming of the Day of God, wherein the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Therefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.
The Islamic Waqf’s jurisdiction over the Temple Mount is officially over and Israel will now work to reestablish Jewish sovereignty over the holy site, according to Knesset Member Ari Dichter.
“Israel is the sovereign on the Temple Mount, period. The fact that the Waqf became a sovereign on the Temple Mount ended last Friday,” declared Dichter, chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and former head of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), on Israeli public radio, Israel National Newsreported.
“The question of our policy [at the Temple Mount] may not be clear to the Palestinians, but it is very clear to us… The Mount will remain under the control of the Israel Police.”
If Israel does indeed take back control of the Temple Mount, then the rebuildng of the Third Temple would not be far off The Mount has not been under lasting Jewish control for thousands of years. Devoted Jews have been praying for the rebuilding ofthe Third temple for the past two thousand years.
However, A Waqf statement released on Monday urged Muslims “to reject and boycott all the Israeli aggression measures, including changing the historical status quo including imposing the metal detectors.” Furthermore, this just occurred on the Temple Mount: Just a few days after last Friday’s incident on the Temple Mount, Tuesday night’s clashes marked the third straight day that rioters engaged in violent tactics, with the agitators reportedly lobbing Molotov cocktails and rocks at Israeli police forces nearthe Lions Gate, which happens to be a main access point to the Temple Mount. It is being reported that at least 34 people were injured and almost half of them requiring hospitalization.
The Muslim worshipers are now protesting the Israeli government’s decision to install metal detectors at the entrances to the Mount, which is the holiest site in Judaism and a site holy to Islam.
Protest leaders, including top Palestinian officials, are stating that the metal detectors are part of an Israeli conspiracy to hamper Muslim worship at the Temple Mount.
Again, it is worth mentioning that this can escalate to a war. Somehere a peacemaker is awaiting to enforce a covenant of peace if this gets really out of hand. Daniel 9:27???
Jerusalem has seen two temples built on the Temple Mount. The first was built by King Solomon close to 3,000 years ago. It was destroyed by the armies of Nebudchadnezzar in 586 B.C. The second temple was built under Zerubbabel during the years 520-516 B.C. This was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. Since that time there has been a deep longing amongst many observant Jews both out in the Diaspora and back in the land of Israel to see the temple rebuilt once again.
Avid Bible Prophecy students are fully awrae of the fact that the coming Third Temple has major prophetic and eschataological implications that culminate in the end of the Church Age and the beginnig of the Tribulation period.
Once a year, on the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av, Jews fast, cry and mourn for the destruction of their Holy Temple. They long for the rebuilding of an edifice that was destroyed 2,000 years ago.
At the present time the construction of the Third Temple is quite impossible from a political standpoint. The Temple Mount area is currently under strict Islamic control. But the prophetic scriptures indicate that the temple will indeed be rebuilt.
At some point there will be a new peace on the Temple Mount. And in this peace the Third Temple will be constructed. However, this peace may come after a future war in the Middle East ignites. Will it be Psalm 83? Will it be Jeremiah 49:34-39?? Will it be the destruction of Syria mentioned in Isaiah 17. Or will it be Ezekiel 38-39??
The Bible repeatedly describes the Temple as the spiritual center of the world and the source for peace and prosperity.
Over the past decade there has been a growing “Movement” to rebuild the temple in Israel today with thousands of Jews working to rebuild the temple. According to a poll taken last year in a leading newspaper Ha’aretz, one third of Israelis believe that Israel should erect the Temple on the Temple Mount. Just last year, Israel’s Housing Minister called publicly for the rebuilding of the Temple, “We’ve built many little, little temples,” MK Uri Ariel said, referring to synagogues, “but we need to build a real Temple on the Temple Mount.”
Schools throughout Israel are diligently studying the laws of the temple and Jews of all backgrounds visit the Temple Mount each month. The Jerusalem Post quoted Sarit Berko, a non-observant Israeli who came to the Western Wall to observe the 9th of Av from her home in Tel Aviv, an annual pilgrimage she has made since the Six Day War in 1967. “During Passover, most Jews say ‘Next year in Jerusalem’,” explained Berko, “As an Israeli I pray, ‘Next year may the Third Temple be built and last for eternity.’
The Temple is such a central theme in the Bible that one third of all its commandments deal with laws carried out in it. In the near future it will be rebuilt and part of it will be given over to the gentiles:
Revelation 11:1-2—–And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Forty and two months is equivalent to 3.5 years which in itself is half of seven, or quite possibly midway through the last seven years of history prior to the Return (NOT THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH) of the Lord Jesus Christ. These seven years have been referred to by many scholars as the Tribulation.
The Temple Institute in Jerusalem has announced that it has finished building an altar that can be utilized for Temple service. The altar, which took several years to build, can be operational at little more than a moment’s notice, reported Matzav Haruach magazine.
Furthermore, the third Temple’s sacred vessels, the menorah, showbread table and incense altar are completed. The architectural design is also done. It is also being reported that the third Temple will be a mix of steel, stone and composite materials conforming to the Law. The architectural plans only need to be executed.
A Biblical description of the preparation of the temple can be found in Zechariah Chapters 1-4. Interestingly enough, the fourth chapter reads right into the advent of the two witnesses of Revelation Chapter 11—-See Below:
The Temple Institute is committed to preparing all the necessary clothing and tools for the re-built Holy Temple in Jerusalem. In addition, the institute operates an educational center for visitors and a preparatory training program for members of the Aaronic priesthood who wish to be ready to serve as soon as the Temple is rebuilt.
Events continue to escalate on the Temple Mount following the murder of two Israeli guards on the Temple Mount just last week.
The Temple Mount was closed Friday after three Arab Israeli terrorists emerged from the compound and opened fire at a group of police officers just outside, killing two of them.
On Sunday, the site was opened to Muslims only, and on Monday, it was opened to non-Muslim visitors as well.
Under the status quo, established after Israel captured the site in 1967, the site is managed by an Islamic foundation under the auspices of Jordan — the Waqf — and Israel controls access.
Jews are allowed to visit, but not pray, at the site — the holiest place in Judaism and the third holiest in Islam.
Pay close attention because hereis where this gets very interesting:
The current ruling Fatah party of Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas re-broadcast his call for violence at the Al-Aqsa Mosue in 2014. The broadcast was in response to the closure of the Temple Mount following the terrorist attack in which two police officers were murdered Friday morning. Palestinian Media Watch reported that Fatah posted the video on its official Facebook page. In it, Abbas calls on Arabs to use violence to prevent Jews from ascending the Temple Mount.
“We must all carry out Ribat [religious conflict] in the Al-Aqsa Mosque… We have to prevent them, in any way whatsoever, from entering the Sanctuary… They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places,” Abbas says in the video.
In addition, last week the country of Jordan also condemned the violence in Jerusalem but also demanded that Israel “immediately” reopen the Temple Mount compound for Muslim worshipers.
Jordan’s Government Spokesman Mohammed Momani said in a statement quoted by the Jordanian news agency Petra that Jordan rejects any violation against the right of Muslims to perform their religious rituals in their holy shrines.
Israeli officials were angered by Jordan’s statement, saying on Friday evening they rejected it.
“Instead of condemning the attack, Jordan chose to attack Israel, which protects the worshipers and preserves freedom of worship in the area,” the statement said, according to Israeli media outlets.
“Israel will not tolerate any ham to the holy sites and it maintains the status quo in them. It would be appropriate for all the parties involved, including Jordan, to maintain restraint and prevent an escalation,” it added.
Jordan is one of two Arab countries, the other being Egypt, to have signed a peace treaty with Israel.
Events like these can be looke upon as trigger points that can escalate to war.
Many Bble prophecy students are aware of the coming Revelation 12 sign: See here––
Just how will this Middle East peace be achieved? What will have happened to suddenly change the political landscape in the Middle East and thus open the way to allow the temple to be rebuilt? A new “prince” will have come into power. But who will this man be? And in whose name will he come? Will he turn out to be the peacemaker or power broker spoken of by the prophet Daniel? Shall we come face to face with the long awaited peacemaker ofDaniel 9:27:
Daniel 9:27–And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
This future seven year covenant will be different. The final solution of the “Road Map to Peace” will be on the front pages of our newspapers and News websites on Fox and CNN cable news. This seven year peace deal or covenant will kick off the final seven year history of this world spawning earthshaking political events of Biblical proportions.
When this covenant is signed and confirmed there will be major international consequences. Great and awesome events will start to happen as the Holy God of Israel resumes His determined covenant dealings with the nation of Israel and the rest of the world.
Zechariah 12:1-11—The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. 2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. 4 In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness. 5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the Lord of hosts their God. 6 In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. 7 The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah. 8 In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them. 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. 11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
It is of a surety that we are living in the very season of the Lord’s return, and have been for quite some time. As Jesus Christ taught in the Gospels, the prophetic birth pangs that are so prevalent globally speaking, in so many different prophetic spheres, are becoming more pronounced and stronger with each passing day.
As we approach the end of the Church Age, all the prophetic pieces are falling into their Biblically ordained end-time places and this is exactly what we are witness to in all other areas of Biblical eschatalogy or end-time prophecy.
A recent Blockbuster Summer movie was released with a sub title called “HOMECOMING” and interestingly enough a soundtrack that played in the opening scenes contained the following words:
“Can’t you hear me knockin’ on your window” “Can’t you hear me knockin’ on your door” “Can’t you hear me knockin’, ahh, are you safe asleep?….”
Revelation 3:20-22: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Song of Solomon 2:10-13—My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. 11 For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; 12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; 13 The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
One of the main purposes of this website is to examine current events in light of the Scriptures as pertaining to Bible Prophecy. Unless one has their head in the sand, it goes without saying that there not only current events unfolding today but rather “concurrent” events that ere manifesting before our very eyes in the closing hour of the Church Age.
con·cur·rent (kənˈkərənt); adjective
existing, happening, or done at the same time.
“there are three concurrent art fairs around the city”
As we approach the midway point of the year 2017, which in the Hebrew Calendar is 5777, the year 5778 on the Hebrew calendar is September 21-22, 2017. This will officially mark 70 years from Israel becoming a nation in 1948. One of the most incredible prophetic occurrences is the upcoming sign in the Heavens as mentioned in Revelation 12, that has not been seen for almost 6,000 years. I wrote briefly about that in a previous post:
What is interesting to note is what happens after this sign appears:
Revelation 12: 7-13—And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them[a] in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” 13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
Satan’s rage and fury are moving on Israel. Satan knows the 70th Week of Daniel is dead ahead. He tried to cause God’s Word regarding the time of Jacob’s trouble to be broken with the destruction of the Jews. World war 2 and Hitler’s unsuccessful plan to elimnate the Jews from the face of the earth resulted in the birth of a nation. If Satan can cause all the Jews to be killed, then God’s final call for Israel to repent will fail and His reputation will be destroyed and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be prevented….We know this won’t happen.
Notice that in the above passage Michael and his angels fight the dragon. Notice this next passage in the Bible:
Daniel 11:41 thru Daniel 12:1a —He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. 44 But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. 45 And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him. “AT THAT TIME MICHAEL SHALL STAND UP, THE GREAT PRINCE WHO STANDS WATCH OVER YOUR PEOPLE; AND THERE SHALL BE A TIME OF TROUBLE, SUCH AS NEVER WAS SINCE THERE WAS A NATION, EVEN TO THAT TIME..
This is a clear depiction of Anti-Christ entering Jerusalem to set up his palace, if you will, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea in the glorious land of Israel. Notice that when Michael will “step aside” then a time of trouble (as referenced in Jeremiah 30:7) will commence.
Jeremiah 30:4-7—Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah.5 “For thus says the Lord: ‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of fear, and not of peace. 6 Ask now, and see, Whether a man is ever in labor with child? So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins Like a woman in labor (wait, isn’t that a description of the sign mentioned in Revelation 12???0)And all faces turned pale? 7 Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.
So is it any surprise that North Korea suddenly makes an alarming statement that if Israel that damages the “dignity” of the North Korean leadership, North Korea will respond with “merciless, thousand-fold punishment.” What one must understand is that when Israel destroyed Syria’s nascent nuclear program, it was quickly discovered that North Korea had provided the know-how and hardware to the defiant Arab dictatorship.
It is also known that North Korea is in league with some of the Middle East’s more unsavory players, all of which want to see Israeli annihilated. These would include Syria and Iran. Of course, the “Hook” is literally being inserted in the jaw of Russia. Ezekiel 38-39, anyone?
Just last week in an astounding move towards peace, Hamas separated itself from the Muslim Brotherhood and acknowledged the recognition of a peace with Israel. Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal personally declared the new policy document of his organization, announcing that it is not a “branch of the Muslim Brotherhood” anymore. He also declared that Hamas would form better relations with Egypt and other Muslim countries that have problems with the Muslim Brotherhood. It also gave the message it could live together with Israel.
I Thessalonians 2:4—For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman.(There we go with a similar description of the Sign inRevelation 12….again.)And they shall not escape.
Could this possibly be a ruse by both Turkey and Hamas to help the world pressure Israel to divide the land and will lead to peace treat that is enforced upon Israel at the onset of the 70th Week of Daniel?
Daniel 9:27—Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week. He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”
What is painstakingly obvious is that several “concurrent” events are rapidly unfolding as we are approaching the end of the Church Age with breakneck speed.
I want with this post with a mention of Methusaleh. Methuselah comes from muth, a root that means “death”;1 and from shalach, which means to bring, or to send forth. The name Methuselah means, “his death shall bring”.
Methuselah’s father was given a prophecy of the coming Great Flood, and was apparently told that as long as his son was alive, the judgment of the flood would be withheld; but as soon as he died, the flood would be brought or sent forth. And, indeed, the year that Methuselah died, the flood came.
Genesis 5:21-29—Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. 22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.25 Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech. 26 After he begot Lamech, Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had sons and daughters. 27 So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died. Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and had a son. 29 And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.”
Methusaleh was the oldest living man in the Bible. Is it a coincidence that BOTH Enoch and Noah are also mentioned here? It was in the days of Noah, when Methushelah died in the year of the flood, that Enoch was “raptured”, prior to the flood. So was Enoch’s rapture, “Pre”-Flood, “Mid”-Flood, or “Post”-Flood??
Matthew 24:37—But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Luke 17:26—And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man
Just this past week, the oldest human in the world, Mbah Gotho of Indonesia, died on Sunday, April 30, at the age of 146. Gotho was reportedly a Christian. Gotho was exactly 146 years, 4 months, and 1 day old at his death Sunday, April 30th, 2017.
By the way this was exactly 146 days from the Revelation 12 Sign that is to converge on September 23rd 2017.
Have you ever wondered about Palm Sunday? I want to give you some insight about it and its prophetic implications…….
Leviticus 23:1-4—And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. 3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings. 4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
Perhaps in another post I will explain how Jesus fulfilled the Spring feasts in His First Coming and how He will fulfill the Fall feasts during His Second Coming. Nonetheless, of the Seven Feasts, the final feast is the Feast of Booths or the Feast of Tabernacles…
Leviticus 23:41-44—And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: 43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. 44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord
We see the Jews disciples observing this in John chapter 7:
John 7:1-6— After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. 2 Now the Jew’s feast of tabernacles was at hand. 3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. 4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. 5 For neither did his brethren believe in him. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
During this festival, the Jews would recall their sojourn in the wilderness as they journeyed to the Promised Land by living in booths. Spiritually speaking, we as Christians are sojourning in this world looking forward to our ultimate promised land which is in the kingdom of Heaven.
1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. (ESV)
The longer we walk this earth as believers, the more we recognize that we’re just strangers passing through, or sojourners, as Peter put it. Yet, we have a faithful Guide, the Holy Spirit to lead us through our pilgrimage.
Interesting to note that upon the return of jesus Christ, the Feast of Tabernacles will be established again when He sets up His Millennial kingdom.
Zechariah 14:16-17— And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
When studying the Jewish feasts, Passover was one of the three pilgrim feasts where the Jews would sing what is referred to “Hallel Rabah” (Psalms 113 to 118). This was actually to be sung twice in the Jewish annual liturgy. The first time would be at the Passover, with their hands waving. But in the fall, it was to be at the Feast of Tabernacles, while waving palm branches in their hands.
The highlight of the Hallel Rabah is:Hosanna, hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His loving kindness endures forever. Hosanna, hosanna.
The Jews were supposed to sing that on two occasions: Passover, with their hands waving. And also at the Feast of Tabernacles, while waving palm branches, also known as “lulavim,” in their hands.
On Palm Sunday, the Jews began to celebrate Passover (which teaches about the Messiah who was the Lamb that would be slain), as if it werethe Feast of Tabernacles, which corresponds, in the typology of the Jewish calendar, to the Millennium. Let me explain:
This is why, when Jesus was transfigured with Moses and Elijah, Peter wanted to build three booths, or three tabernacles.
Matthew 17:1-9—And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
Peter was saying, “Here is the Messiah. Now let’s set up the Kingdom!”
When Jesus came on Palm Sunday, they wanted somebody who was going to overthrow the Roman government and set up the Messianic Kingdom. So they began to celebrate Passover, as if it were the feast of Tabernacles. They began to wave palm branches as if it were the feast of tabernacles. What they did not understand was that at His first coming, He was to die for their sins and ours, let alone the sins of the world. It is at His Second Coming where he will establish His Millennial Kingdom and reign for 1,000 years.
Revelation 20:1-7—And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7 And when the thousand yearsare expired……
In His first coming, Jesus fulfilled the first three (Spring) holidays in the Jewish calendar: Passover, First Fruits (which was the Resurrection), and the Feast of Weeks (which was Pentecost).
In His Second Coming, Jesus will fulfill the last three (Autumn) holidays: the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and finally and ultimately, the Feast of Tabernacles.
The Jews of His day did not want to know about a Suffering Servant Messiah, who was going to come as the Passover Lamb to be slain. They wanted a conquering King, who was going to set up the Millennial Kingdom.
The suffering servant Messiah is called “the Son of Joseph,” HaMashiach Ben Yosef. The conquering king Messiah is called “the Son of David,” HaMashiach Ben David.
For Jesus of Nazareth to be the Messiah, He has to fulfill ALL the prophecies.
In other words, it is one Messiah, two comings. In His first coming Jesus came as the Son of Joseph, the suffering servant. In His Second Coming He will return as the Son of David, the conquering King.
Much of what is unfolding in the Middle East right now is a fulfillment of Bible Prophecy as the Messiah is preparing to return as the conquering King!!!
